Privacy Policy

Updated October 2026. This page says what happens to your information when you visit or order, in plain language. If anything here is unclear, email support@batterywands.com and ask.

What we collect

When you order. Your name, email, phone, billing and shipping address, and what you bought. We need these to take payment and get the parcel to you.

When you email or call us. Whatever you send, including photographs of your headrail or a damaged part. We keep these because they are usually what lets us sort out an order or identify the right wand.

When you write a review. A review stores your name, your email address, the star rating and text you wrote, and which product it is about. Your email is never shown; we keep it in case we need to ask you about the review. About a week after an order we may send one email asking how the part worked out, with a link to review it. That email goes once per order. We read every review before it goes up. Approved reviews are public on the product page, and we send them to Google in our product ratings feed so the rating can show beside our listings on Google Shopping. Both show your first name and the initial of your last name only, never your full name or email.

When you browse. The measurement tools below, and a few small notes your own browser keeps for us (your cart, and where you first came from). Each is described in its own section.

Analytics and advertising tags

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and referring sites. It sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you to any other site.

Google Analytics shows us which pages people read, how they arrived, and which products are viewed, added to the cart and bought. It sets Google Analytics cookies and sends Google the pages you visit, the site that sent you, your device and browser type, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. When you order, it also receives the order total, an order reference and the products in the order. It does not receive your name, email or address.

The Google Ads conversion tag. We advertise on Google. When you click one of our ads, this tag lets Google tell us whether that click led to an order, and for how much. It sets Google's advertising cookies and receives the page you visited, the ad click that brought you here and, when you complete an order, the order total and an order reference.

Enhanced conversions. When you complete an order, the Google tag also sends Google your email address in hashed form: the tag turns it into a one-way code (a SHA-256 hash) before it is sent, so Google gets the code, not the readable address. Google compares that code with the ones it already holds for signed-in Google accounts, so an order can be matched to an ad click even when a cookie was blocked or you switched devices. We send nothing else about you this way.

Google Customer Reviews. On the order confirmation page, Google may offer you a one-time survey about your order. To offer it, the page gives Google's survey box your email address, your order number and the expected delivery date. Google only emails you if you say yes.

Google's use of all of this is covered by Google's privacy policy.

The Microsoft Advertising tag (UET). We also advertise on Bing and Microsoft's network. Its tag, called UET, sets Microsoft's advertising cookies and receives the pages you visit, the ad click that brought you here and, when you complete an order, the order total. It does not receive your name, email or address. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, or you are visiting from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, the tag runs with ad storage switched off. Microsoft's use of this is covered by Microsoft's privacy statement.

The ChatGPT ads pixel (OpenAI). We also advertise in ChatGPT. When you click one of our ads there, OpenAI adds a reference code to the link, and OpenAI's pixel on our pages keeps that code in a cookie. When you view a product, add one to the cart, start checkout or complete an order, the pixel tells OpenAI, so OpenAI can report whether an ad click led to an order, and for how much. It receives the page you visited, the products involved and, for an order, the order total and an order reference. When you complete an order it also receives your email address in hashed form: your browser turns it into a one-way code (a SHA-256 hash) before anything is sent, so OpenAI gets the code, not the readable address. It does not receive your name or address. OpenAI's use of this is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.

The Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram). We also advertise on Facebook and Instagram. Meta's pixel on our pages sets Meta's advertising cookies and tells Meta the pages you visit and the products you view, add to the cart and buy. For an order it also receives the order total and an order reference and, if one of our Meta ads brought you here, the ad click reference Meta added to the link. When you complete an order, our server also sends Meta a copy of that purchase, so it is counted even if the pixel was blocked. With it go your email, phone number, name and address in hashed form: each is turned into a one-way code (a SHA-256 hash) on our server before it is sent, so Meta gets the codes, not the readable details. Meta compares them with the codes it holds for its own users to match an order to an ad click. The copy also carries the two browser identifiers listed under Cookies and your browser type. Meta never receives your card details. Meta's use of this is covered by Meta's privacy policy.

Where you came from

Every shop wants to know which ads and pages actually lead to a sale. Ours keeps track of it in your own browser, using its local storage (not a cookie), and sends nothing anywhere until you buy.

When you place an order, these notes are attached to the order in Stripe, where we read them. If you answer "how did you find us?" on the thank-you page, that one answer is attached to the order too. Your cart is kept in local storage as well, so it is still there when you come back.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. Our cart and the notes above live in your browser's local storage, and our page-view analytics are cookieless.

Who processes your data

Your shipping address goes to the carrier and to whoever physically packs the order, because otherwise the parcel cannot reach you.

Your rights under CCPA and GDPR

If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we hold, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. Google Analytics, the Google Ads tag, enhanced conversions, the Microsoft Advertising tag, the ChatGPT ads pixel and the Meta Pixel may count as "sharing" under California law; to opt out, use the steps under How to opt out, or email us and we will help. The other rights are yours and we will honor them.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR give you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Our lawful bases are contract (we need your details to fulfill your order) and legal obligation (we keep order records for tax purposes).

We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and delete what we are not required to keep.
