Hunter Douglas Battery Wand Part Numbers Explained

There are only two battery wand part numbers you are likely to need, and the difference between them is the number of batteries they hold. Everything else is detail.

What is part 7520068000?
The 18V battery wand. It holds twelve AA batteries and fits twelve-cell headrails on Legacy PowerView, PowerView Gen 3, and the Platinum Technology 2.0 and 2.1 systems before them. Hunter Douglas built many of those lines with eight-cell wands too, so count before you order.
This is the current production version, the one with a fuse in the end cap. That fuse is what stops a single battery going in backwards from shorting the wand out, and it is the reason Hunter Douglas now supplies this part in place of the earlier 18V wands. If your shade originally came with an older version, this is still the correct replacement.
What is part 7520069000?
The 12V battery wand. It holds eight AA batteries and fits any eight-cell headrail: Duette, Applause, Silhouette and Vignette shades built with eight cells, Parkland and EverWood from 2018, Palm Beach shutters, and most PowerRise 1.0 shades; on PowerRise 1.0 Duette and Applause it is part of the external retrofit Hunter Douglas documents. PowerRise 1.0 Vignette, Silhouette and Nantucket made before May 2010 take other parts, and the PowerRise 1.0 page has each line. It is not a cheaper or smaller version of the 18V wand — it is a different part for a different motor voltage. The two are not interchangeable: the motor expects its own voltage, and the wrong wand will not run the shade.
Which part number do I need?
Count the batteries in the old wand. Twelve means 7520068000. Eight means 7520069000.
That single check settles it on nearly every shade, which is more than the shade line does — several Hunter Douglas lines were built across the changeover and exist with either system. The one documented exception is a Pirouette 18 to 23 inches wide, which takes an eight-cell part, 7520073000, that we do not stock and that our 12V wand does not replace. What are the other Hunter Douglas battery wand part numbers?
These are the numbers people most often arrive with. All of them are real Hunter Douglas parts; only two of them are wands we stock, and the table says plainly which.

Numbers ending 66000 and 67000 catch people out: they are not different wands, they are the same wands shipped with batteries already in them. Buying the empty part and a packet of AAs is the cheaper way to the identical result, and the batteries will be fresher.
What are the rechargeable wand and charger part numbers?
Different family, different money, and we do not stock any of it — but these are the numbers people arrive with, so here they are.

A warning about voltage on these: the wand is marketed as 18V DC and specified as 14.8V, because the first number is the shade system and the second is the li-ion pack. Both are correct. The rechargeable battery wand page untangles that properly and gives current dealer prices.
I have part 2981097000. What replaces it?
This is the single-barrel 12V tube, 8 × AA, that Hunter Douglas fitted to Duette and Applause shades built before May 2010, the PowerRise 1.0 era. What you need depends on one thing: whether the bracket assembly holding it is still intact.
- Bracket intact: Hunter Douglas still lists 2981097000 itself as the part, from its parts store or a dealer. We do not stock it, and Hunter Douglas does not list our 12V wand as a drop-in replacement for it.
- Bracket broken, corroded or missing: Hunter Douglas's documented fix mounts the batteries outside the shade: the 12V battery pack 7520069000 (our 12V wand), satellite mount kit KIT8105, an extension cable and power cable 2920247000 (our power cable). Our battery tube conversion kit does the same job of moving the batteries outside the headrail: an external tube taking eight AAs, two brackets, and the connector cable.
If you are unsure which applies, photograph the bracket as well as the wand and send both to support@batterywands.com. A broken bracket is easy for us to spot and expensive for you to guess wrong about.
What are enhanced end caps, and can I buy just the end cap?
Enhanced end caps is Hunter Douglas's own name for the end cap design on the current wands — both 7520068000 and 7520069000 have them. Hunter Douglas introduced them in May 2018 for easier battery changes, and notes that a wand with them may look slightly different from an older one and still be the correct part.
The 18V wand we stock also carries a fuse in the end cap, visible in the photograph below. On earlier wands a single AA pushed in backwards would short the pack; Hunter Douglas warns that a reversed cell "may be charged by others in the pack, causing damage or leakage". The fuse opens the circuit instead. It cannot be replaced, so a wand that has blown it is finished, but the fault stops at the wand rather than at a leaking pack in the headrail.
You cannot buy the end cap on its own from us. It is not a serviceable component; it is part of the wand assembly. If yours is cracked, melted, or has corroded from a leaking battery, the wand is what needs replacing — and the replacement will be the enhanced-end-cap version whether you ask for it or not, because that is what is in production.
A cracked cap is also worth taking seriously rather than taping. It is what holds the battery contacts in alignment, and a wand that loses contact pressure behaves exactly like a dead wand.
The number on my wand does not match either of these
That is normal, and it is usually fine.
Hunter Douglas revised these wands more than once, and a shade that has been on a wall for fifteen years may carry a number that is no longer in production. For the two wands we stock, the current part is the correct replacement for the earlier numbers. The battery count, not the printed number, is what tells you which of the two current wands to buy.
If the number on yours is close but not identical — a digit or two different — count the batteries and go with that.
The label has worn off completely
Then ignore it. A wand that has sat above a sunny window for two decades, or that has had alkaline batteries leak inside it, has often lost its printing altogether.
Slide the wand out, count the battery channels inside, and order on that. Nothing about the printed number changes which part fits.
Do the kit and the cable have part numbers?
The cable does. The 13 inch PowerRise power cable is Hunter Douglas part 2920247000, printed on its packaging, and that is the number to match. If you are comparing without a number, match on length (13 inches overall) and connector shape: a two-pin plug at the motor end and a barrel plug at the wand end, as in the photographs on the cable page.
The battery tube conversion kit is sold as a kit rather than under one printed number. Match it on what it replaces: a sealed eight-cell tube. Both belong to PowerRise-era headrails. If you counted twelve batteries, the kit does not apply, and the cable only does on a Vignette PowerRise shade made before May 2010, which Hunter Douglas converts to the 18V wand plus this cable.
Where do these part numbers come from?
The numbers and line assignments on this page follow Hunter Douglas's own PowerView Battery Wand Identification article and the Hunter Douglas parts store listings for 7520068000 and 7520069000. The two sources do not fully agree: the store listing for 7520069000 names only Pirouette and Sonnette, while the identification article lists it for Duette, Applause, Parkland, EverWood, Palm Beach, Silhouette and Vignette as well. This page follows the identification article. Counting the batteries in your old wand settles it either way.
