Which battery wand fits a PowerRise 1.0?
Usually the 12V wand, part 7520069000, but not on every line. Duette and Applause take it; Vignette, Silhouette and Nantucket made before May 2010 convert differently. The table below has each line.
The 12V wand takes eight AA batteries and is the current production eight-cell wand, with Hunter Douglas's enhanced end caps. On PowerRise 1.0 Duette and Applause it is part of an external retrofit rather than a drop-in for the original single-barrel tube, which Hunter Douglas only treats as serviceable while its bracket assembly is intact.
Which PowerRise battery wand does each shade line take?
Hunter Douglas documents PowerRise battery wands line by line, and they are not all the same part. Find your shade line and the year it was made:

Two things decide it when the table leaves doubt. The battery count, if the old wand has loose cells. The bracket, on Duette and Applause: a broken or corroded bracket assembly means the retrofit, not a like-for-like tube. Hunter Douglas's general advice for PowerRise wands is to search "battery wand" in its parts store and filter by product line. Replacement PowerRise remotes, bridges and gateways are no longer available, and PowerRise shades cannot be converted to PowerView.

What is a PowerRise 1.0?
PowerRise 1.0 is the original Hunter Douglas automation system, sold from 2003 to April 2010, long before PowerView. On Duette and Applause its wand is the eight-cell single-barrel tube, part 2981097000; Vignette, Silhouette and Nantucket used other styles, listed in the table above. Eight batteries on its own does not prove it, though: Hunter Douglas still fits eight-cell headrails today, so go by the headrail's age and the old wand's style.
Where is the battery wand in a PowerRise 1.0 headrail?
Placement varies across the lines PowerRise was installed on. Hunter Douglas's conversions put the new wand on brackets at the back of the headrail (Silhouette, Nantucket and Vignette) or on a satellite mount outside the shade (the Duette and Applause retrofit). If the old wand holds loose batteries, count them: eight on most lines, while a Vignette converted to the current wand takes twelve.
Anything to be careful of on a PowerRise 1.0?
These have sat in a headrail for a long time and the plastic has gone brittle. Support the tube as it comes free rather than letting it drop out of the bracket.
How does a PowerRise 1.0 battery wand fail?
These are old enough now that leaked batteries are the usual cause of death. Check inside the tube for white or green crust before assuming the motor has failed; the motor normally outlasts several wands. If the old sealed tube is corroded beyond saving, the battery tube conversion kit retires it and moves the batteries outside the headrail where you can reach them.
What do people get wrong on a PowerRise 1.0?
Fitting a fresh sealed tube into a headrail that has already corroded once. If the contacts are pitted, the conversion kit moves the batteries outside the rail, where the next leak cannot reach the motor.
Will the conversion kit or the power cable fit a PowerRise 1.0?
Yes. A PowerRise 1.0 shade is exactly what they are for. The conversion kit retires a sealed tube that has corroded beyond saving, and the 13 inch power cable is the motor lead to check when the wand itself tests sound. Hunter Douglas lists that cable, part 2920247000, in its Duette, Applause and Vignette PowerRise conversions.
