Battery wand for PowerRise 1.0 Shades
The answer
The 12V wand, part 7520069000. It takes eight AA batteries.
This is the current production version, the one with a fuse in the end cap that stops a reversed battery shorting the wand out. It supersedes every earlier wand used on this line, so it is the right part whatever age your shade is.
What this shade is
PowerRise 1.0 is the original Hunter Douglas automation system, long before PowerView. If your wand holds eight batteries rather than twelve, this is what you have.
Where the wand sits
Placement varies across the lines PowerRise was installed on. The constant is the battery count: eight cells, not twelve.
How these fail
These are old enough now that leaked batteries are the usual cause of death. Check inside the tube for white or green crust before assuming the motor has failed - the motor normally outlasts several wands.
Is it definitely the wand?
Not every dead shade is a dead wand - travel limits, a lost remote pairing and tired batteries all look the same from across the room. Our six-symptom check sorts them out in a couple of minutes, and it will talk you out of the purchase where it should.
