Which battery wand fits a Duette Honeycomb?
Either one — count the batteries. Hunter Douglas built Duette with both wands, and a shade made after May 2010 may take either. The model name and the age will not tell you; the old wand will.
- Twelve batteries means the 18V wand, part 7520068000
- Eight batteries means the 12V wand, part 7520069000
Both are current production, both carry Hunter Douglas's enhanced end caps (the May 2018 design that makes battery changes easier), and both supersede the earlier wands on this line. What is a Duette Honeycomb?
Duette is the honeycomb shade — pleated fabric formed into cells that trap air across the glass. Architella is the double-cell version, a cell inside a cell. It is the line most often ordered with PowerView, which makes it the line whose wands we replace most.
Where is the battery wand in a Duette Honeycomb headrail?
The wand clips into a bracket at one end of the headrail, behind the fabric stack. On a deep Architella headrail it sits further back than you expect — it has not fallen out, it is recessed.
Anything to be careful of on a Duette Honeycomb?
Honeycomb cells crush if you lean on the stack, and a crushed cell does not spring back. Raise the shade fully so the fabric is compressed into the rail before you reach past it.
How does a Duette Honeycomb battery wand fail?
Duettes are light, so they tend to fail cleanly: working one day, dead the next. A Duette that still moves but sounds labored is usually batteries rather than the wand.
What do people get wrong on a Duette Honeycomb?
Assuming an Architella takes a different part because it is the double-cell version. The fabric changed; the power system did not. Same wand, same number.
Will the conversion kit or the power cable fit a Duette Honeycomb?
Not unless your headrail turns out to hold eight batteries. The conversion kit and the 13 inch power cable both belong to an eight-cell tube, and a twelve-battery Duette Honeycomb Shade runs the newer 18V system.
