The short lead that carries power from the motor to the battery wand on PowerRise headrails. Thirteen inches, white, with a two-pin plug at the motor end and a barrel plug at the wand end. If your shade is dead on fresh batteries, this cable is worth checking before you replace anything larger.

Before you buy

Is the wand actually the problem?

Three symptoms mean the wand and three do not. Battery wand not working? Run the six-symptom check — it takes two minutes and will talk you out of this purchase where it should. Not sure which of the two wands your shade takes? The Hunter Douglas battery wand replacement guide settles it.

What you get

One 13 inch power cable, new and unused. White, with the barrel connector at one end and the two-pin motor connector at the other.

This is a PowerRise part — the lead between the motor and the battery wand in the headrail.

Will this fit my shade?

This cable is worth buying when the wand itself is sound and the shade is still dead.

Work through it in this order:

  1. Fresh, matched batteries in the wand. If nothing happens, keep going
  2. Check the wand for a blown fuse or corrosion — the six-symptom check covers both
  3. If the wand tests good and the shade is still dead, the lead between the motor and the wand is the next suspect, and that is this cable

It only applies to PowerRise headrails. Most of those take eight batteries; the exception is a Vignette made before May 2010, which Hunter Douglas converts to the twelve-battery 18V wand plus this cable.

How to fit it

  1. Take the power out — slide the wand out of the rail
  2. Unplug the old cable at both ends, motor and wand
  3. Run the new one the same way the old one was routed, so nothing is pinched when the shade moves
  4. Reconnect, refit the wand and test

Nothing needs reprogramming: the shade's limits and its remote pairing live in the motor and are untouched.

Questions about this part

How do I know it is the cable and not the wand?

A wand with a blown fuse or leaked cells shows it — no response at all on fresh batteries, or crust inside the tube. A shade that stays dead with a wand you have every reason to believe is good is what points at the lead.

Is this a charging cable?

No. It only carries power from the battery wand to the motor, and nothing charges through it. An AA wand is never charged: you replace the batteries. If you have a Hunter Douglas rechargeable wand or a shade with a built-in battery, the cable you want comes with the Hunter Douglas Single Charger, explained on the Hunter Douglas charging cable page.

Will this fit a PowerView shade?

No. This is a PowerRise part, and PowerView shades do not use it. Hunter Douglas lists it in its PowerRise conversions, including the Duette and Applause retrofit and the Vignette conversion to the 18V wand.

Is the cable included with the conversion kit?

The kit includes its own connector cable, so you do not need to buy both. This one is for replacing a failed motor lead on its own.

Does it come in other lengths?

We stock the 13 inch version, which is the standard lead length for these headrails.

What if it turns out to be the wrong part?
