Part 7520069000 · 12V wand

Hunter Douglas 12V Battery Wand, 8 AA, for PowerView and PowerRise Motorized Shades

Right wand? Count the batteries in your old one. Eight AA means this wand. Twelve AA means the 18V wand.

The Hunter Douglas 12V battery wand new in its sealed packaging, part label 7520069000 showing

The eight-cell wand, part 7520069000. If your old wand holds eight AA batteries rather than twelve, this is the part. Hunter Douglas fits it to Duette, Applause, Silhouette and Vignette shades built with eight cells, to Parkland and EverWood blinds from 2018, and to most original PowerRise 1.0 shades (not Vignette, Silhouette or Nantucket made before May 2010, which convert with other parts). The 18V wand will not run an eight-cell headrail. Batteries are not included.

Fits: Any Hunter Douglas motorized headrail built for an eight-cell wand: Duette, Applause, Silhouette and Vignette shades ordered with eight batteries (May 2010 onward), Parkland, EverWood and Modern Precious Metals blinds from May 2018, Palm Beach shutters, and most PowerRise 1.0 shades, including the Hunter Douglas external retrofit for Duette and Applause. Not every PowerRise 1.0 shade takes it: Vignette made before May 2010 converts to the 18V wand plus power cable 2920247000, and Silhouette and Nantucket made before May 2010 convert with Hunter Douglas kit KIT9112. Count the batteries in your old wand: eight means this part. Narrow Pirouette shades (18 to 23 inches) use a different eight-cell part, 7520073000, which we do not stock. Check your shade line →

Most homes have multiple shades. They were installed together and run the same batteries, so they tend to fail within months of each other. Keep a spare on hand — it costs less than a second order.

Before you buy

Is the wand actually the problem?

Three symptoms mean the wand and three do not. Battery wand not working? Run the six-symptom check — it takes two minutes and will talk you out of this purchase where it should. Not sure which of the two wands your shade takes? The Hunter Douglas battery wand replacement guide settles it.

What you get

One 12V battery wand, new and unused, in its original Hunter Douglas packaging.

Batteries are not included. You will need eight fresh AA cells, all the same brand — see what batteries these take.

Will this fit my shade?

Count the battery channels in the old wand.

Eight cells does not mean your shade is old. Hunter Douglas built Duette, Applause, Silhouette and Vignette with either wand after 2010, and fits this one to Parkland and EverWood blinds from 2018. It is also the wand for most original PowerRise 1.0 headrails, though Vignette, Silhouette and Nantucket made before May 2010 take other parts (PowerRise 1.0 lists each line). PowerRise or PowerView? explains the difference, which matters because two other parts we stock only apply to PowerRise. The battery wand part numbers page covers the labels and the other numbers you may see on an old wand, Hunter Douglas battery specifications lists voltage and battery type for every Hunter Douglas pack, and the Hunter Douglas battery wand replacement guide covers which lines take which.

How to fit it

The same job as the 18V wand, with eight cells instead of twelve.

  1. Raise the shade fully, or tilt the slats open on a wood blind
  2. Slide the old wand out along the rail
  3. Load eight new cells to the diagram printed on the tube. Hunter Douglas warns that a reversed cell is charged by the others and can damage the wand or make the batteries leak
  4. Seat it back in the bracket and test

Step by step, with the two places people go wrong: how to replace a battery wand.

Questions about this part

Is the 12V wand just a smaller 18V wand?

No. It is a different part for a different system. The two are not interchangeable: the motor expects its own voltage, and the wrong wand will not run the shade, so count the batteries before you order.

My shade is a newer PowerView. Can it really take the 12V wand?

Yes, if the old wand holds eight cells. Hunter Douglas built Duette, Applause, Silhouette and Vignette shades with either an eight-cell or a twelve-cell wand after 2010, and fits the eight-cell 12V to Parkland and EverWood blinds from 2018. The battery count decides it, not the age of the shade.

What if I order the wrong wand?

Send it back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, with no restocking fee. It needs to be unused, with no batteries put in, and in its packaging. You pay the return postage, which is a few dollars in a padded envelope. Email or call first so we can match it to your order. If we sent the wrong part, we pay for everything. The details are on the returns page.

Is this a genuine Hunter Douglas part?

Yes. It is genuine Hunter Douglas stock, new and unused, in its original packaging, with part number 7520069000 printed on the label. We are an independent seller, not an authorized dealer, so the manufacturer's warranty may not apply. Our own 30-day return policy does.

How long does delivery take?

Shipping is free, by UPS Ground. Orders placed before 3pm Eastern on a weekday ship that day, and later orders ship the next business day. Delivery is usually 2 to 3 business days to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, 3 to 4 to the Midwest and Southeast, and 4 to 6 to the Mountain states and West Coast. Tracking comes by email. See shipping.

The old tube is corroded inside. Should I still buy this?

Check how far it has gone. If the corrosion is confined to the wand, a new wand is the fix. If the sealed tube itself has failed, the battery tube conversion kit retires it and moves the batteries outside the headrail where a future leak cannot reach the motor.

The wand tests fine but the shade is still dead.

Then check the lead between the motor and the wand. On PowerRise headrails that is the 13 inch power cable, and it is the next thing worth eliminating.
