Hunter Douglas Modern Precious Metals Battery Wand Replacement
Motorized Modern Precious Metals aluminum blinds made from May 2018 take the 12V battery wand, part 7520069000, which holds eight AA batteries. Count the cells in the old wand to be sure: eight AA means this part, and four AA means an early PowerTilt pack that Hunter Douglas has discontinued with no replacement.
Hunter Douglas groups Modern Precious Metals with Parkland wood and EverWood alternative wood blinds, and documents the same wand for all three. BatteryWands is an independent retailer, not affiliated with Hunter Douglas; we stock the 12V wand new and ship it free by UPS Ground.
How to tell by counting the cells
Labels wear off. The cell count does not. Slide the old wand out and look inside:
- Eight AA batteries in a double-barrel tube → the 12V wand, part 7520069000. This is what Hunter Douglas lists for these blinds from May 2018 to the present.
- Four AA batteries → a 6V PowerTilt pack from a blind made before January 2007. Hunter Douglas has discontinued it and lists no current replacement part, so no wand we sell will fit.
- Twelve AA batteries → not documented for this line. Send a photo of the wand and label to support@batterywands.com before ordering.
The 12V wand and the 18V wand are not interchangeable. The motor expects its own voltage.
What if my blind was made between 2007 and 2018?
Hunter Douglas's entry for these blinds names the pre-2007 pack and the May 2018 wand only. Its section on satellite battery packs adds one more case: a 12V satellite pack on horizontal blinds made 2007 to April 2010 is replaced by the same 12V wand, 7520069000, plus power cable 2920247000. We stock that power cable as well.
For a blind made between May 2010 and April 2018 the guide gives no part, so count the cells and email us a photo of the headrail label before you buy.
Is it a Modern Precious Metals blind?
Hunter Douglas tells its three horizontal lines apart by material. Modern Precious Metals slats are aluminum, in 1/2 inch, 1 inch or 2 inch sizes, and feel lighter and more flexible. Parkland is real wood and EverWood is a composite, both with 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch slats. If you have one of those, see the Parkland or EverWood page; the wand answer is the same.
How do I swap the wand on a Modern Precious Metals blind?
Hunter Douglas's horizontal blind guide covers this for all three lines:
- Raise the blind if you can, to get at the battery wand.
- Reach behind and locate the wand gently.
- Pull down on the wand to release it from its bracket.
- Unplug the cable from the battery wand only, not from the blind.
- Load eight new AA alkaline batteries in the direction shown on the wand. They sit in series, so one reversed cell can damage the batteries or the wand.
- Plug the cable in first, then slide the wand back into place, and test.
Use one brand and a full new set; Hunter Douglas suggests Duracell or Energizer. If a new wand and fresh cells change nothing, run the six-symptom check before buying anything else, and see how to replace a battery wand for the common mistakes.
Questions people also ask
Do Modern Precious Metals, Parkland and EverWood take the same wand?
Yes. Hunter Douglas lists them together: the discontinued four-cell PowerTilt pack before January 2007, and the eight-AA 12V wand, 7520069000, from May 2018.
What is part 7520067000?
The same 12V wand sold with batteries in it. Ours is the empty 7520069000; you add eight AA cells.
How long do the batteries last?
Hunter Douglas puts typical life at about one year on AA alkaline batteries, shorter on larger or busier blinds. The blind slowing down, eight red LED blinks at the end of a move, or a red battery icon in the PowerView app all mean it is time.
My four-cell PowerTilt pack has died. What now?
Hunter Douglas lists no replacement part for it. The blind would need a dealer's advice, and Hunter Douglas also lists Modern Precious Metals among the lines it does not convert to a different operating system.
Can I paint the wand to match my blinds?
Hunter Douglas says not to. Paint can interfere with heat and electrical contact and may void the warranty.
Other lines are on the compatibility list, and voltages for every Hunter Douglas battery are on battery specifications.
